If someone says learning is easy and fun, he is lying. As much as learning and education has its own reward, it is also more motivating if student are rewarded with prizes and gift when they stand out in their school or among their mates.
We live in a country where little recognition is given to High school student for their hard work and excellence. Scholarships are very few in our region or country. It is exciting to announce that a group of dedicated and ambitious young men and women have decided and are working to organize an award ceremony for High School leavers this May.
The program when successful will award high school student in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis who showed excellence in both academic work and sport in the last year. It will involve fun activities and some of the best musician who originated from the region representing and performing to entertain as well as encourage these high school levers to aim higher.
The director of Sarcom Events Sarah Otoo told me that they hope lot of cooperate bodies and reputable individuals will join so the program will be a successful and an annual event. She continued,” We plan to award best Math, Science, Art, Visual Art, technical and Home Economics students”. There would be an examination for students who would be nominated from all the participating school and the best in each category will be awarded for be the best in the course. The entertaining part of it promises to be much fun too. I would love to see the program become an annual program.
The high school students will represent their various schools and see their friends being awarded for their work. It will be much fun to see these hardworking students receiving award, also it will serve as a motivation to other students and the first and second year high school students in the community as a whole.
